If you have a vacation home, then you are probably on the lookout for ways to keep it secure when you are not there. You no doubt find it difficult to implement good home security for a home that you visit infrequently.
Security for a vacation home can be a little difficult, because you are not there much of the year. If you only visit your other home three or four times each year, then you need a plan to make sure the security at that home is excellent.
You do have the option of hiring a security guard to keep an eye on your second home. But since he would only go by the house occasionally, the security would not be very effective. You could also hire a house sitter for your home. But paying a house sitter to live at your home for weeks at a time would quickly become very expensive.
The answer is DVR (digital video recording). DVR is the perfect way to improve the home security at your vacation home. Even when you are miles away, DVR makes it possible for you to keep close watch on your home. And it is much less expensive than hiring someone to watch your house for you!
All you have to do is install video cameras around the interior and exterior of your home. Those cameras could then be programmed to send the video feed to your computer, iPad or smart phone. This way, you can watch every area of your home whenever you desire. You can also rotate the cameras remotely. This ensures that no part of your home is left out of your view.
Just be sure to install cameras that are motion activated. This type of camera will save you money on your electric bill, because they will only turn on if they detect motion. You can turn them on remotely if you choose, but otherwise, they will stay off unless there is something to record.
